Varsity Game
22 OctJockeying for playoff position, divisional foes in the Pitt Meadows Marauders and the Rick Hansen Hurricanes went at it during a wet soggy afternoon in Abbotsford. With the score going back and forth for most of the afternoon, it was the host Hurricanes which eventually came out on top 35-21.
The Marauders got on the scoreboard early on their first scoring drive with Rashaun Simonise taking the handoff for 35 yards. The Hurricanes responded right away by returning the kickoff return for a touchdown to even up the score 7-7.
The Hurricanes continued their ground and pound attack scoring 3 more times in the 1st and 2nd quarter to go up 29-7. The Marauders were able to find the end zone before the end of the half with backup quarterback Tanner Hartley hitting Rashaun Simonise for a 50 yard catch and run to make it a 29-13 score at halftime.
The Marauders opened up the 3rd quarter strong behind the accurate throws of quarterback Joe Schuster and sure-handed catching by receivers Cole Ram and Rashaun Simonise. The Marauders would get within 1 score when Schuster hit Ram on a 15 yard touchdown pass to make it 29-21.
A perfectly-placed Joe Schuster punt pinned the Hurricanes on their own 5 yard line to start the 4th quarter. However, the Marauders were unable to stop the methodical ground attack of the Hurricanes. 8 minutes and 15 plays later, the Hurricanes would put their final score on the board to make it 35-21.
QB Joe Schuster finished 15-for-24 with 220 yards passing and 1 touchdown. Receiver Rashaun Simonise had 2 touchdowns and finished with 60 yards rushing and 110 yards receiving. Fellow receiver Cole Ram had 6 receptions for 95 yards. Defensively, the Marauders were led by a team high 8 tackles by Ryan McFegan and 7 by Ben Zabierek.
Junior game vs Holy Cross
20 OctThe Junior Varsity team played their toughest challenge of the year, but
also came out with their best effort of the year. Holy Cross eventually
proved to be too much for the young Marauder team, but not before The
Defense caused three turnovers, and kept the team in it until half time.
The Second half started with Holy Cross starting to take over, but Pitt
scored in the fourth quarter to break the shut out, adding a two point
conversion on the last play of the game. Final score 28-8
Friday Night Under the Lights
15 OctOn a night where the offense shined all game long, it was the visiting Robert Bateman Timberwolves who outlasted the host Pitt Meadows Marauders by a final score of 46-29.
After the Wolves scored on their opening drive by converting 2 key 4th down conversions, the Marauders stormed back with consecutive scores of their own featuring catches by receivers Rashaun Simonise and Cole Ram and the strong running of quarterback Joe Schuster and running back Tanner Hartley.
After a fumble recovery by the Wolves deep in Marauder territory, the Wolves would score 2 more touchdowns to make it a 26-14 score at halftime.
In the third quarter, the Wolves would add to their lead with 2 touchdowns but the Marauders kept their chances alive with a touchdown of their own late in the third quarter led by the running of Jacob Currie inside. Late in the fourth quarter Joe Schuster found his favorite targets in Cole Ram and Rashaun Simonise again to bring the Marauders within 2 scores but were unable to hold the Wolves off on defense. Final score 46-29.
After the game head coach Matt Todd had this to say about his team’s performance “We played hard all the way through but we made a few mental mistakes which allowed them to gain back momentum. We’re disappointed with the result but I’m proud of the fact that we never gave up and kept battling to the final whistle of the game.”
QB Joe Schuster finished the game 12-for-21 with 175 yards passing and 90 yards rushing. Receiver Rashaun Simonise had 5 catches for 85 yards while fellow receiver Cole Ram had 3 catches for 60 yards. Tanner Hartley carried the ball 7 times finishing with 80 yards rushing. Defensively, the Marauders were led by linebacker Ben Zabierek registering a team high 8 tackles.

Junior Game
12 Oct
The Junior Varsity team was in tough against a very strong and talented Langley team. The Marauders’ squad battled injuries before the game even started, with starting Center breaking his hand in warm up, adding him to the growing list of players out for the season. The game was decided early with Langley going up 30-0 by half time. In the second half, Pitt showed a lot of heart, as they did not give up, only surrendering one score the whole second half for a final score of 36-0. The season continues with a home game on October 13, against a very strong Holy Cross team.
